I agree with OTWO!!! In fact, the counsel given by elders is "universal" for any issue you're dealing with. Every time you follow their counsel and things work out or problems go away, they credit Jehovah's blessing as the cause, but if things get worse or don't work out, they credit Satan's persecution. Most people can work out their problems or get used to them so that they don't seem as bad over time. Either way, the elders want you to think that your following their counsel is what really made the situation better. The bottom line- The elders are never wrong!
People who never even look at you while you are faithfully attending meetings suddenly "miss" you when you've been away from the meetings for a time! WTF!??
Conditional friendships...
Oftentimes a scripture that is cited in WT articles actually have nothing to do with the subject of the article or even paragraph where it is cited. To "understand" it, the reader must either have a working knowledge of JW doctrine or have such a person explain how the cited scripture fits the material. "...He was pierced for our transgressions..." has nothing to do with Jehovah's sovereignty and does not, in any way, explain that Jesus died to uphold it! (WT article "Are You For Jehovah's Sovereignty" a few weeks back).
A VERY high percentage of the men who are placed in positions of responsibility are either; a. related to someone already in such a position; b. wealthy.
There is entirely too much emphasis on meeting attendance and field service, so much that everyone in the bORG is judged by it!
And finally, one of my favorites- Nothing is really that important until the week before the circuit overseer arrives!!!!!

The Last Nephilim
I'm actually trying to do this, although it's been slow- going. It's a fantasy fiction novel about a fictitious race of humanoid creatures (one in particular) and his experiences in life. Sword battles, betrayal, comedy, tragedy, the whole nine yards...

What was the "point of no return" for you?
by B_Deserter inwas there a point in leaving the organization where you did something that demonstrated that you had officially made your decision to leave?
for me, i think it's going to be when i vote in the general election this year.
it will be my first action in public against jw doctrine.

I was always able to dismiss questions that came up in my mind with the handy- dandy JW mindset that Jehovah will correct things and make adjustments in his own due time. The beginning of the end for me was the Sept. Kingdumb Ministry Question Box. I was appalled at what it was saying. Then I got an account on here and checked out other "apostate" websites. Then I started recalling several years back I purposely missed our Tuesday night meeting to watch the Dateline Special on pedophilia in the bORG. I almost laughed out loud when I remembered my feelings when I watched that- how the media was controlled by Satan and was being biased against the Society! Anyhow, I started watching some vids on YouTube on JW false doctrine and such. Oh, and at the same time I was getting the Sept. KM, I was noticing a great deal of bias within the BOE in my cong. I guess alot of things hit all at once. I think the last straw was when I last talked to the PO. Shortly after he and a few others elected to reinstate my ex- wife, he came to my house to "check on us". He didn't like what I had to say about losing confidence in the elders and the organization. I think it pissed him off for me to say those things in front of the ministerial servant he brought with him. During their visit, he went through his routine of giving counsel from a few selected scriptures, most in the New Testament. Since I had my Kingdom Interlinear on my desk, I used it instead of the regular NWT. He got a puzzled look on his face as if he'd never seen this book before and asked me what it was. After I showed it to him, he had the nerve to ask me what I was doing with it!! I told him I was doing research to answer an "interested person's" question: "Why does Thomas say 'The Lord of me and the God of me' in the original Greek if Jesus is not God". Again, he acted puzzled and told me to let him know what my research turned up. I think he was already thinking apostasy! The visit was as cold and unfeeling as any, and I felt I was being judged the whole time. If that is the bORG's idea of "shepherding", then I don't want to be a part of their organization.
BTW, another couple of elders came by yesterday to "check" on us again, since now I have custody of my son. If they can't get me, I guess they figure on going after my son. Over my dead body!!! -

Do you ever miss it? Ever?

I can honestly say no, even for the sole reason that those "friends" are conditional, which, to me, is worthless. I have a friend who has been loyal since before I became a JW and remained so through my indoctrination and subsequent shunning of him, unless it involved a chance to witness to him. That didn't matter to him- he was still my friend even if I wasn't his. THAT's the kind of people I want as friends- not the kind who will drop you like a used tampon the minute you question the WTS!!!!!

Thanks, V. Your vids are truly inspirational.
In case anyone is interested, a guy named Shazoolo on YouTube makes some pretty interesting JW videos, and he appears to have access to a bunch of old WT publications that he proceeds to rip to shreds (figuratively). He even has a few vids where he compares older publications to their "updated" versions to show how the WTS covers up it's false prophecies. Check him out. I get a kick out of his accent, too! -

What a frickin' shock!!! You mean to tell me that NONE of the translating committee of the NWT were educated!!?? Well, thanks for spoiling it for me! What will I do now???...
Second Titus, eh? Yeah, those WT Ba$tards left that book out of my New World Translation, too! Anyone send me a PDF scan of that one???

PS3 or Xbox 360
by 5go inmy next system is a wii.. though what should i get after it i am getting all three eventually.
some day..

The Last Nephilim
Between those two, I'd say PS3, for these reasons:
1. Waaaay better looking graphics, in my opinion.
2. Blu-Ray
3. Microsoft is evil, like the WTS
4. Free online play
5. Call of Duty 4 is phenomenal!
6. Microsoft is evil... like the WTS
Having said that, I am still a dedicated PC gaming fan. I'd rather play a PC game any day. It's always a few steps ahead of console games in graphics and tech, you can usually customize the games much more, but it's just more expensive if you want the latest and greatest hardware. I haven't done the figures yet, but I have a theory that if you buy the latest console gaming system and games to go with it, you could have upgraded your PC hardware. I could be wrong, but... well... I just love PC games! -

Fruits of the JW's

Fruits of JWs?
How about families destroyed by unloving disfellowshipping practices?
How about completely draining every working person's second with constant meetings and service and personal study, etc...?
How about placing guilt on someone for not being a "Super Witness"???
Just to name a few... -
